Honda has introduced the facelift version of its compact crossover SUV BR-V at the 27th Indonesia International Auto Show on 25th April 2019.

The automaker is manufacturing the 5-door Honda BR-V since 2015 under a shared platform with Honda Mobilio MPV. Ever since its inception, the compact SUV has entered into the facelift world for the very first time. Other than Pakistan, Honda BR-V gets sold in India, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Mexico, etc. A lot of people are either unaware or find themselves in curiosity regarding its name. BR-V stands for Bold Runabout Vehicle. The 7-seater crossover was first introduced in Pakistan on 21st April 2017 which means it is two years old in the local market of the country.

As for the facelift version, the Indonesian auto market becomes the first one where the company launches the mid-life face of the SUV. Let’s have a look at how Honda BR-V facelift looks like and what’s new in it for its consumers.

Power train:

No changes have been made under the hood of the compact SUV. The crossover has the same 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine mated to a 6-speed manual or CVT transmission gearbox. Honda BR-V produces a maximum output power of 120 hp and 145 Nm of torque.

Exterior:

Honda BR-V gets a revised fascia in its facelift model with the inclusion of a black bar instead of the old chrome bar which connects the headlamps; however, the bottom thin-styled chrome strip remains a part of the body. The projector head lamps are unchanged with the addition of LED daytime running lights (DRL’s). The fog lamps garnish underneath them is also redesigned by the auto manufacturer. There is also a new black front grille design along with new front bumper tweaks. Honda BR-V facelift is also equipped with a silver-colored skid plate at the front. The crossover gets a chrome side protector with a new design of 16” two-tone alloy wheels. Honda has also changed the rear bumper design and mounted a rear silver diffuser under it as well. The bridge which links the tail lamps has been updated with chrome. The redesigned bumper gets new vertical shaped reflectors which sum up the overall changes in the exterior.

Interior:

Inside the cabin, the automaker has added new tweeter speakers and new dashboard panel pattern on the unchanged dashboard design. The top of the line variant of BR-V is also provided with black-trimmed seats with an elegant touch of the red spine. The door armrests are also padded with red leather, and in addition to that, the steering wheel and gear knob are also wrapped in leather stitched with red thread. To enhance the comfort experience for the passengers on-board, the 2nd row is offered with thicker seat cushioning. The passenger sitting in the middle also gets a new center headrest and a new armrest console is provided. The crossover launched in Indonesia is also equipped with a height adjustment feature for the driver in accordance with the driving style.

Features & safety equipment:

The Indonesia-bound Honda BR-V facelift is now powered by an 8” floating capacitive touch screen with WebLink that allows smartphone mirroring. It is equipped with a similar FM radio, Bluetooth, AUX and USB connectivity features. The refreshed version also gets a keyless entry with push start feature in it. Moreover, the company has added a new auto air-conditioning system in BR-V facelift version. The auto manufacturer has kept the two airbags at the front in terms of safety.

Available colors:

The facelift version is available in six colors as mentioned below:

  • Tafetta White
  • Lunar Silver Metallic
  • Modern Steel Metallic
  • Crystal Black Pearl
  • Coffee Cherry Red Metallic
  • Amber Metallic

As we said in the beginning that the crossover was introduced in Pakistan two years ago so we might expect its facelift model to hit the roads somewhere in 2020. Currently, Honda BR-V comes in three variants; one manual and two automatic in Pakistan including i-VTEC MT, i-VTEC and top of the line i-VTEC S. The base model price starts from Rs.2.234 million and goes all the way up to Rs.2.569 million for the high-end variant.
