Hyundai-Nishat Motors has launched, Grand Starex, a premium class MPV for its customers in Pakistan in three different trims.
As per the details, the launching ceremony of the vehicle was held at Emporium Mall, Lahore where Hyundai also launched Pakistan’s very first digital showroom. The 12-seater Multi-Purpose Vehicle, Grand Starex, has been launched with 2.4 MPi gasoline engine mated to both 5-speed manual transmission and 5-speed automatic transmission that churns out 175 hp at 6000 rpm and 228 Nm of torque at 4200 rpm.
The dimensions of the vehicle are as follow:
- Length: 5150 mm
- Width: 1920 mm
- Height: 1925 and the wheelbase of the vehicle is 3200 mm.
- Ground Clearance: 190 mm

The MPV has been shipped to the local market in three different variants; one manual and two automatic, namely Hyundai Starex M/T – GL, Starex A/T- GLS and top of the line Hyundai Starex- GLX. Note here that base variant GL has been priced at PKR 3,999,000 whereas GLS has been priced at PKR 4,999,000, while, on the other hand, the top of the line trim, GLX, has been at PKR 5,199,000 by the company. The MPV will directly compete with KIA Grand Carnival in the local market.
Grand Starex is a rear wheel drive vehicle. Due to its sleek exterior and premium class interior, the vehicle is a treat for the local auto enthusiasts. Additionally, the vehicle has a dual sunroof. See the specs, features, and pictures of the MPV below:
South Korean automotive giant, Hyundai, has once again entered Pakistan under the name of Hyundai-Nishat Motor Private Limited (“HNMPL”). HNMPL is a Greenfield investment, which is setting up a car assembly plant for Hyundai on M3 Industrial City, Faisalabad. It is pertinent to mention here that Mian Mansha, founder and CEO of Nishat Group also said that in the initial phase 7,000 vehicles would be produced; however, the production capacity will be increased to 30,000 units in the next five years.
