I am thinking of installing 5 KW solar system in my home that will power following appliances:
Fridge •• Freezer •• 1.5 Ton DC Inverter A.C. •• CCTV (7 cameras) •• 50" LED TV •• Sound system •• PlayStation 4 •• 2 Laptops •• 3 Routers •• 1 Modem •• Microwave •• 3x 18 watt LED •• 4x 23 watt Energy Savers.
Maximum Running Watts: 3,500
Without Microwave: 2,000
Without Microwave & A.C: 800
I rarely use microwave, so my max running watts will be around 2,000 mostly, therefore it can easily accommodate starting surge of freezer (1700 watt) and fridge (850 watt).
I went to Inverex Solar in Lahore and they quoted me this price.
Over 600,000 Rs. for 5KW system looks too much. There isn't much information online about these BLD panels they quoted. Also, I have no idea about quality of installation they will do. They ask for payment in advance, my concern is that they may install cheap wires / breakers etc and take maximum profit.
I went to another company and they also quoted similar price, but with less solar panels.
I am thinking, how hard can it be to install your own system? I have never installed any kind of solar system before, only been installing / maintaining my UPS. But I am thinking about giving it a try. I have been researching online about solar installation and it doesn't look too complicated. Installation should be smooth if you're careful with volts/amps and pairing of solar panels.
Time to start researching and buying equipment. I will try to update this thread with my installation progress.
