Well after 12 years in Karachi, I finally decided to take her to Islamabad with me (got posted here by company). I thought she would be happy leaving the dusty confines of Karachi and into the clean, fresh air of Islamabad. Oh boy was I wrong
So she arrived via trailer to Islamabad in June, all happy to leave dusty Karachi behind. 2 days she roamed freely in Islamabad where she finally stretched her legs on the expressway. You would think she would be happy in this dust free environment. But nope, 2 days after arrival she decided to say goodbye to her AC compressor.
Fantastic! Back to her old self. The 'gurus' in Islamabad were charging me 20K for the 'janiyan' compressor. Being the cheap ass I am, I went to Saddar, Pindi, on some street where they have all engines and parts (forgot the name buts its a whole road of engines, sensors and parts). Genuinely nice people there and I got a Cl9 AC Compressor for 6.5k. 6.5K!!!!! Frickin love that place!
With the new compressor, she was back to how she sounded when she first landed off the boat from Japan. Soundless. My AC bearing had died 3 years ago and compressor was making a lot of noises but was cooling well, so I just put up with it . Now shes all nice and quite. And fixed so cheaply. WIN!!
All good and I'm loving her in Islamabad Fuel economy good (9km/l from 6kml in karachi) and I treated her to some nice waxing.
YOU WOULD THINK SHE WOULD BE HAPPY! But nooooooo. I treat her so well. I put high octane in her. I polish her. I change her parts. And how does she treat me?
With this
Seriously?! God this car is infuriating. Coming back home from work and temperature needle shoots up to red. I turn on the heater and slowly limp her to workshop. Her fan switch decides to give up and fans not turning on. And it cracked its coolant line. And to make matters worse, the mechanic broke its heat gauge sensor when opening it. Idiot!
Back to pindi
Got kabli sensors and new coolant line with other bits and bobs. 5K total. Did I mention how much I love this place? Amazing.
By this time my wife was getting quite fed up with me spending weekends in Pindi and workshops and said this is not what she was expecting when we moved here. She saw visions of weekends in Murree, Nathiagali, Bhurban etc. I told her i'm not taking her up there. Kuch kharab na ho jai. She got mad and said get rid of the car.
I, being the ever loving husband told her that the car was here way before her and I do kinda have an emotional bond with her . She didn't take very kindly to that and threatened to invite her mother to come live with us if i don't get a more reliable car. Damn! Not selling the Accord (yet) so I got her the 'family' car.
What a boring ass car. I could write a novel on how uncomfortable the seats are in this civic. But she likes it and its her car so what you gonna do. I get to keep the accord for another year at least until she blows up (the car not the wife, thought both do threaten to do just that)
