for now Billo sits in my driveway, comfortable and enjoying the warm sunshine wondering why she never got to see the sun in December these past 4 years. I drove her to Khalid's workshop on Saturday and had her looked at. She had a few minor issues but the biggest (and the scariest) was the loose oil drain nut on the transmission! If you have followed my thread on the transmission replacement/ installation in Canada you'd remember that I installed a rebuilt from scratch tranny myself. Now the transmission came without any oil so I filled up but never bothered checking if the drain nut was tightened or not. I just loosened the oil filling nut and tightened it afterwords but NOT the oil drain nut (plug) that is located at the bottom of the gear box.
It could have popped out anytime, draining the oil in the transmission and causing the transmission to seize..especially on teh bumpy roads between Karachi and Lahore!
However it didn't! and while it could be loosened and tightened with a finger when I took it to Khalids it was still there and has since been tightened and transmission fluids topped up.
The next task is to get the roof of the car looked at by Arshad to remove the dent put there by the customs people when they threw the suitcases etc on top of the car and the dents on the rear fender. Billo would also need a couple of panels re-sprayed and a couple of minor rust spots treated but that is about it!
I also plan to write in detail about Billo's journey back to Pakistan now that I have my desktop set-up. I'll finally be able to share the pictures for the September - December 2011 period including pictures of the Karachi to Peshawar rally.
