@master
well...i m sure there are much more experienced bikers here on PW, but i wud try my level best to give u few safety tips
first and foremost, wear helmet. and once u wear it, do fasten the strap tight. dont leave the strap just like that otherwise God forbid in case of some accident, it wud be of no use. my very close friend died in lahore 4 years back on a honda 70 despite wearing the helmet, but as it was not tied, when he met the accident, it fel from his head and he had fatal brain injury. second reason is that when u on main road, as the surroundings are comparatively open as compared to city, the wind factor plays its role. for example when u are about to overtake some vehicle, and u want to glance back to make sure some other vehicle is not coming behind u, if ur helmet is lose, it moves on ur head and causes distraction
2ndly...do have rear view mirrors fitted when on long route and make full use of them
3rdly...even if the road is empty, drive in the left side of the left lane. as cars are much faster, they get really annoyed by slow moving bikes
4th...if u can afford, try to put brand new engine oil before u start the travel.
5th....do keep few bottles of water with u. they mite be used for drinking or cooling the bike. dont hang anything in the shopping bag with the handle while on the main road as on high speeds it destabilizes the handle and causes confusion. best way is to use a back pack (small bag which u can wear on ur back) and put the water bottles in it
6th...no matter how comfortable ur seat is, take a towel, and double fold it and place it on the seat. it makes ur ride much more comfortable
7th....make use of gears for slowing the bike. at high speed if u just press the clutch and press the break, ur bike wud just skid off (and u wud also hear the rattling sound of the chain against the chain cover....experience bikers wud second me). so whenever u have to slow down, lower the gear and release the clutch alongwith applying the brakes.
8th...last but not the least, drive sanely. remember, u r on a bike, and not on a rocket. its safe for u and for others too
have a great journey. m sure u wud love it Inshallah
