Aoa everyone!
Hope you all are doing fine.
I’m an iPhone user for a long period of time.
Recently I got iPhone 8 256GB variant as a gift from my father. I got it on february 22nd. At that time, it was showing battery health of 98%.
After almost one week, on 1st march to be precise, it dropped by 1% i.e. became 97%.
Then again after one week, on 8th march, it further dropped by 1% and became 96%.
I discussed this with my uncle who is an iPhone specialist in Gujrat, and from whom all of our phones are bought (including this 8), he told that this phone was lying turned off for around 40days before his relative brought it to Pakistan from Europe. Hence this is quite normal that a phone which remained turned off for a long period of time when gets used as a daily basis, it adjusts the battery health percentage according to the usage behaviour. Somehow I believed his theory.
Then everything went smooth for a month, and on 11th april, it dropped by 1% and became 95%. Here the point to be noted is that I installed some heavy graphics games a couple weeks back and was playing for an average time of one hour per day (not continously). So I thought it was due to the gaming and stuff.
Then today in the morning I checked the battery health out of habit, and it was at 95%.
Now at around 3pm, I checked the health and it is showing 93%. Now I am a bit alarmed since I’ve reduced my gaming time aswell.
I know how to maintain a battery. I do not use any powerbanks to charge it. I do not charge it via computer/laptop/car chargers. I use original Apple 3 pin 1amp charger + original Foxconn cable. I do not charge it overnight, I am aware of the 40%-80% rule, I donot fully charge it to 100% daily, I only charge it maximum to 65-68%.
Some points to note;
-Location services are OFF (since the day I got it).
-Background App refresh is OFF (since the day I got it).
-I do not use Mobile data (3g/4g), only Wifi is used for internet usage.
-Raise to Wake is turned OFF (since I got it).
It has been on iOS 12.1 since february (the day I got it), and it has not been updated to 12.2 (due to the fear that it might reduce the battery life.
Now I seek guidance from all of you, as to what might be the reason for this. Dropping by 2% in a day is an alarming situation for me at least. Should I delete the heavy games? Or any suggestions on how to stop it from reducing further.
Thanks in advance.
