They are two types of honda DLC (data link connector) present in early honda vehicles. One has a battery connection in the middle while in the other one the same is missing.
Your car has got the first type. Now to connect a 16 pin OBDII scanner you need a 3 to 16 pin converter cable, like the one shown below
...but there is one problem with these commercially avaialble converter cable, connection sequence is wrong i.e., pin 3 (data line) inside the honda 3 pin dlc connector should be attached with pin 7 (K Line) instead of pin 14 (CAN Low).
Solution can be either to buy a correct cable in the first place or redo any of the wrong cable. But, first, check the sanner must support K Line communication.
