Well I am not certain if it's the crank or a swelled up piston. Almost everyone here is discouraging from attempting to rebuild a cdi, the engine still start so its not dead as per say. The suspension was recently done so that isn't an issue.
We actually had everything done recently, all services and all repairs, from the turbo to the belts to the suspension, there was a slight ticking noise in the engine at 2k rpm and the gearbox had pieces come out of it during the oil change. I informed the owner, and he was hesitant to replace, he said let's see if it works.
Well once everything was done and serviced, the car was moving well but was lacking power and economy, turned out that one of the vaccum devices of the turbo was leak. When I replaced that, and took it out on a test run, as soon as I floored it, the power came back but at 3k rpm, the gearbox slipped, and suddenly small ticking noise became a loud ticking noise, and as I turned it around to go back, shifting became difficult, a few seconds later, the car turned off..... And won't take a sulf
I dragged it into the workshop, and asked the fellow to diagnose the issue. He attached a jumper lead to the car(this was on the following morning) to and attempted a start, the vehicle came to life with a loud ticking noise. He used a pipe to check that the noise was in fact from the crank...
So now, it's a bit of a pickle, cdi is something that doesn't run too well here due to low quality fuel and lack of will to install new parts. I am still all for a complete assembly replacement along with the gearbox, but everyone suggests that it's best to convert it to petrol, either with the v6 240, or the 200. The petrol conversion is twice the money, twice the effort, but will ensure a running car with no issues. No one seems to say the same about replacing the diesel assembly
