I had become quite busy so couldn't visit the workshop. They opened the chamber from the old assembly yesterday, turns out that someone had installed the conrod cap backside front which had locked up by the torque and ended up ceasing the engine. There are metal bits everywhere. I asked him to clean the oil pump properly and then test and check if it works, if not replace it. Rest the new assembly has been washed. The mechanic had some personal issues so the process is a lot slower than expected
what engine oil should be used? 5w30?
15w50mos2 liqui moly
Or liquimoly 20w50 shpd diesel tec
Or if affordable then 10w60 gt1 hpds liquimoly
But starts from 15w50mos2 mineral schewez
isn't 15w50 a bit too thick for a start, or is it sufficient to identify the blow if there is any?
No it will smooth up the engine and allows to tell the actual condition of the engine aswell
Use delo 15w40, replace at 2000 kms with synthetic delo 5w40 and then keep regime of 10000 kms drain.
Dont go higher than w40
Ahaaaa wahhh thats the advice we are seeking for a long time. Good push @dayrider
Exactly the true advice boss but delo 5w40 synthetic oil is not available so what should we use instead of that please advice.
i was actually thinking of starting with this but the mechanic said that no, this is a bit too thick, so i told him to get 10w40 shell HX6.Will get delo instead now
i wouldn't want to start with liqui moly, as its a scrapyard engine, no point in starting with an expensive oil, the first drain should be an affordable oil which is to be drained early
Agreed
Use megagrey sealant for this type of work it dries and seasons well and easy to use try it brother
On the entire plate? Or the leaking bit? Because it's quite rusty, and this is water, once I put in coolant. More leaks will emerge from the same plate, no?
Use megagrey on complete housing remember to clean all rusted surface to get results.
Buy a new part. Gasket maker will leak eventually.
Benz cooling system run at 20 psi pressure.
And the rust you see happens when no coolant is used, and the diesel firing cycle causes massive level of cavitation
10w40 helix and 15w40 delo are equally thick.
Mobil1 diesel truck 5w40
If you want to get it casted it in cast iron/aluminium or any metal of your choice it can be done, let me know if you don't find the plate anywhere and if it's to be casted. I'll get it done.
