Hello DIY'ers...
As I Am Fed Up Of Wasting My Day For Getting My Brake Shoes/Pads Replaced At Mechanics Place Along With No Proper Bleeding.....!!
They Can't Bleed The Old Oil Out From System....Reason??? You Might Loose Your Pedal/master Cyl/Booster if You Try That.....So I Was Planning It And Finally Hit It This Sunday With Enough Of Tools And Replacement Parts
The Bleeding Was Done With A Very Nice Easy Home made Brake Bleeding Apparatus With Easy Method Applied...!
Here I Am Sharing Some Pictures...!
All Removed..Cleaning And Preparing For New Shoe Replacement.....Beware With Spring Jobs...They Are Hard On Hands
And Need More Technique Than MUSCLE.....Always Note From Where You Remove Them And In What Direction They Go..
Lightly Greasing The Friction Areas
Shoes Are All In There Nicely......The Side SHoe HOlders Are Real PAIN In Every place :\ The Tricky Part Is To Get PIN
And Load Spring Inn Press Enough And Rotate The Lock Washer To Lock It
Setting It Up For Bleed JOB.....Home Made DIY Apparatus With Transparent Tubing.....!
I Did It Like Rear Left...Rear right.....Front Right....Front Left...
You Can Follow Your Owner Manual For The Sequence...!
The Old Oil And Air Is All Bled And Transparent Tubing Is Showing A Nice Clean Fluid In Line...!
The Cylinder Seals Gone Bad Here So Need To Replace Them....They Are Leak Quiet Much...! Moisture was All There As We Remove The Drum..
Safety Comes 1st....Always Use Proper Even Place and Use Wheel Stoppers And Jacks/Stand For Purpose....!
I Use 2 Jacks And Wheel Stoppers....!
The Front Disc Pads Are Also Worn So Replace Them With New Ones....Always Use Quality Brake Pads/Shoes
This Is Nissan Replacement Brand PARAUT From JAPAN
See How It Comes Out From Front Wheel.....Derbis Particles And Dark Dirty Brake Oil.....! Thats What I Want To Bleed Out And Run A Fresh Brake Oil In Lines.....Always Use Quality Brake Oil ....I Use Genuine SEIKEN Brake OIl(Dot 3)
Never Use Brake Oil Again After Bleeding It.....Since Brake Oil Diffuses Moisture Into It....So Using It Again Is Not Recommended........Replacing Brake Oil Is Recommended After Every 2-3 years Depending On Your Weather Condition....!
Our Mechanics Never Replace It...They Just Bleed It Out On Their OWN Way Which Is Not A Proper Solution....!!
Some Tips
Collect All The Tools Before Thinking For A D.I.Y...Spanners/Rachet....Brake Oil..Shoes And Everything You Need To Open
Sand The Drums With 160-220Grit Sand Paper Evenly As Needed....!
While Replacing Front Brake Pads...You Need To Push Piston Inside For Fitting New Brake Pads..... For That.....Open Bleeder Screw And U Need A PUMP Plier Or A Specific U Rod Which Pushes Piston Inside...I Have PUMP Plier And Using Some Serious Muscle....I Push It Back...Takes Quiet A Force To Do Depending On How Big Piston Is....
(If You Don't Open Bleeder...The Brake Fluid Will Reverse And Came Out from Reservoir...Also It Will Be Easily Pushed Inside Once Pressure Is Released From Bleeder...Just Make Sure To Cover Your Eyes As It Can Came Out From Bleeder With All Force...)
- Always Use Two Jacks To Safely Lift Your Car And Use Wheel Stoppers(Rocks Work Fine If You Don't Have Them)
If You Have Car Stands...That's Best Thing Instead Of Using Jacks....!
- Brake Oil Can Damage Your Car Paint....If It Drips On Any Part...Wash It With Water
Hope This Helps.......A Brake Service Is Our Requirement And With Some Hard Work And Effort....We Can Save Our Time
Money And Most Imp....Do It With Proper Way With Full Satisfaction...
