Dear @fahadullah and Pakwheels Team,
First of all, a great initiative and I can see the hardwork and hours that is put into this migration from a paid version to and opensource GPL licensing with next generation mobile based social presence but I too have issues with its usability and comfort level as I have been reading posts above. I wanted to export a thread which had 231 pages to start with, noticed a lot of posts missing attached images (migration issues), less of feature sets w.r.t data management in users hands. I was able to disable java script in browser to convert it to page based view and eventually using bash on linux extracted the complete thread while conversion to pdf.
to cut the long story short, though it is a pleasant notion of being insync with new technology/methodology, the forum used by the common man with no or very less tech knowledge does find it very hard to adopt this one page based viewing which takes the same time to load the next page thread in same window as it used to take moving to the next page.
As a tech'e my self I can understand that we the tech can adjust and find ways to adopt the change but any change for the masses must be done while keeping in mind "keep it simple and keep it real" principal.
For those who donot know what Discourse is: Below for your kind perusal.
Discourse is an open source Internet forum and mailing list management software application founded in 2013 by Jeff Atwood, Robin Ward, and Sam Saffron.[2] Discourse received funding from First Round Capital and Greylock Partners.[3]
From a usability perspective, Discourse breaks with existing forum software by including features recently popularized by large social networks, such as infinite scrolling, live updates, oneboxing, expanding links, and drag and drop attachments.[4] However, the stated goals of the project are social rather than technical, to improve online discussion quality through improved forum software.
The application is written in JavaScript and Ruby on Rails[5] and uses the Ember.js framework.[6] PostgreSQL serves as its back-end database management system. The sourcecode is distributed under the GNU General Public License version 2.
