I use both brakes. And pichli brake depends on the quality of brake pads you buy. My mechanic told me. There are different kinds of brake pads. Some get used for long time and are expensive but they don't give solid brake power. And are like 300-600 rs. Some are 150 rs to 250 rs pads. And they wear quickly but they make sure when you press thebrake pad. Tyre stops smoothly and catches the road instead of tyre slipping and skidding on the road. So choice is yours.
I go with the ones which wear wuickly but give great braking power.
Another issue i have noticed as a 125 rider. Do not depend on the people who pump air in your front and rear tyre. Always check yourself and decrease the air to the level mentioned on chain cover. Otherwise pump walay bike mei utni hawa bhartay hen jitni doodh wala bharwata hei. Jo bilkul nuqsaan. No braking power due to less friction or grip on road. Utha utha ke maarna. Shocks dont get enough time to absorb a jerk and become stiff with time.
I keep my front tyre pressure to 16-20 psi range and rear one when single i keep it at 28-35psi and with passenger then 30-40psi.
Or if you are heavy. At least the tyre should be filled in such a way that when you sit. Tyre get a little flat and when more people sit. More pressure and tyre should be more flat. This way whenever you put brakes. Tyre will have less air pressure or enough for it to flat itself more and get good grip of road. Which is needed the most while braking.
I have heard people say 125 utha utha kr maarta hei. Yamaha jam ke chalta hei. O bhai mera bike jam ke chalta hei. Mei akela 65kg ka banda hn. When i am turning the bike on road or even off- road i can still push front brake and or rear or both and bike will slow dows instead of slipping or skidding. Why? Because i keep good tyre pressure. Use good brakes. Experience and keep my front shocks so soft that they feel like delux or yamaha. Thats how good shocks i have or keep or like to keep.
