Ok!! So I dont know how true it is and take it as a rumour.. Hyundai / Nishat are in talks with Kia / Lucky for producing Hyundai's local offering using KIA facility.
We know Hyundai is the parent company and they share platforms, engines and alot many other components under skin. Current economic conditions have slowed down the progress at Hyundai. Also keep in mind auto sector as a whole is suffering and for any new company establishing a new facility is very tough. KIA was going at faster speed as far erection of plant and starting production but I also heard that they are under extreme pressure as well. Maybe Hyundai use KIA facility and they dont compete each other in any segment as far as their offerings. Hyundai bring Elantra and Accent sedan while Kia offer Sportage and Picanto. Kia need to sell alot of vehicles for their own profits and return of investment and if auto sector is slow, survival is not easy.. its very easy to understand that car assembly plants are not cheap to run and they need to move cars off the lot to run their plants. Selling even 100 or 200 Sportages per month is nothing and with inflation even that number does not seems achievable.
Let's see what is coming up in near future.
