Hello everyone. This is my first thread on Pajero Forum. Couple of weeks ago I got my first Mitsubishi Pajero, I was looking for an 80 seriese or a TZ preferably a petrol version. But after a long search I came across a Pajero 92 model with a 6G74.
A dear friend shortlisted it for himself but I got it... Had zero knowledge about Pajeros or how they drove... Heard alot of the issues and very less about the good parts. Only heard good things from @HanifBhatti.
So decided to take leap of faith. I drove the vehicle for about a week in town and expericed zero issues. Decided to get the discs cleaned up .... got the belts and oil changed and we were good to go but we had something else coming our way.
I had a trip planned to hunza so came to Lahore ..... During my journey the vehicle strated to show some heating signs... I stopped at the near by station cooled it down but after very short while the needle started to climb.
So trained of the AC and drove the next 4 hours in 47 degrees with out an AC.
Later in bahawalpur my friend @momi77 hooked up a mechanic since I thought the fan router had issues. The gel/oil was very low so we filled it up. When I reached Lahore the heating issues came back.
The following things we did to fix it.
1. Radiator service
2. Timing adjustment, all seals were changed - had issues taking out then crank pulley from belt gear .... From that we assumed it was not properly timed since it was jammed.
3. New fan router
4. New radiator cap
5. TStat valve replaced
6. Temp sensor
7. Installed DMM for an accurate reading
Please note these were not done simultaneously. At everystep we had to check if the heating issue was resolved.
Fan router oil being checked in bahawalpur
New oil being replaced again
New Tstat valve 82degree configuration
DMM installed
Radiator being serviced
Things we took out from timing adjustment
This was stuck with main pulley.
Will updated in up coming posts.
