I woke up early and left at 0830 hrs after breakfast. I reached Attabad Lake in 30 minutes. The sight of the lake was just fabulous. The tunnel is still under construction and is expected to be opened by August, which I really doubt. Because I saw a few bridges which are still under construction and bridges don?t complete that fast. I booked a boat to transport my vehicle and myself to the other side for 2000Rs. only. As the water level has receded the new landing point is now Shishket instead of Gulmit. I reached Shishket in about 30 minutes and then continued my journey onwards. I reached Sost at 1200 hrs and went into PTDC to look for a room. Fortunately, it was available, for 2400Rs. The manager suggested me to leave for Khunjerab then, as there was still time. So I took a break for an hour and then left for Khunjerab. It took me 2 hours to reach Khunjerab. I didn?t push my vehicle because I knew it might raise the internal temperature due to lack of oxygen at high altitude.
When I reached back to Sost at 1700 hrs, greyish clouds covered the sky and the wind storm started. The wind was gushing so furiously that the trees were shaking rigorously. I enjoyed a few cups of tea on the terrace of the hotel, took a few pictures and just sat there and enjoyed the view and the weather. Fortunately, no rain!
