A List of Quirks/Hidden features of Mitsubishi Mirage
Lane changing. If you don't fully engage the turn signals, but instead just bump them up or down, you get exactly 3 flashes in the direction you bumped it
when the wipers are on intermittant they will speed up the faster you go. I believe it increases at both 60km and 100 km/h.
When the car is sitting locked and you unlock it with the fob, it will relock itself automatically if no one opens the doors.
If you switch on headlights car stereo system display get dimmed
I didnt know about the dual articulating mirror.http://mirageforum.com/forum/showthr...ror-blind-spot
The jack for the car is under the driver's seat. In order to remove it, you must unscrew the jack, collapsing it, which will allow you to remove it.
With your foot not on the brake pedal, push the start button once. This will turn on the power to the radio.
With your foot not on the brake pedal, push the start button another time. This will turn on power to everything in the car(power windows will work and the engine cluster will light up like you are about to start the car).
Mist wiper feature:
If you "bump" the wiper stalk up to sweep the windshield for mist it operates in the normal speed mode.
If you "hold" the wiper stalk up (for mist) it operates in the high speed mode
To augment heater performance the Mirage is equipped with an electric heating pad that is positioned in front of the heater core in the HVAC case. It warmes the air flowing to and through the heater core so it gives warm air quicker plus some of the heat gets passed on to the coolant circulating inside the heater core through this flow of warm air helping with engine warmup time.
Both automatic and manual A/C systems got it.
It is called PTC heater (Positive Temperature Coefficient) and it will operate under the following conditions:
-Engine running
-Blower fan on
-Temperature setting: any except MAX cool
-Outside temp 59 degree F or lower (ambient temp sensor is at top of lower grill opening on driver side)
-Engine coolant temp 167 degree F or lower
-Generator output 70% or less
It has 4 heating elements controlled by 3 relays. One of the relays run 2 of the elements and the other 2 has their own elements to operate.
These three relays and three 40 amp fuses are located in the sub relay/fuse box under hood right infront of the battery.Go check it! It's there! You know you want to.
there is a power window delay timer. When the ignition is shut off you have a 30 second "grace period" that allows the operation of the power windows, unless a door is opened/closed then you have to insert the key again.Neat.
Pull up once on the wiper stick and they'll sweep one time. If you hold the stick up, the wipers will speed up and wipe wildly for as long as you do

On the climate control, hit the off button. It's off when all the fans and temperature icons disappear. But you can still switch from recirculate air mode to fresh air mode by pressing the button for changing that. The icon appears briefly to show if air is recirculated or not, then goes off again. This is without turning the climate control unit back on.
I found a nice feature today. My wipers were frozen. i accidentally hit the wiper switch and they tried to wipe, but of course could not (frozen stiff). I thought that my wiper motor would be burnt. But no. Apparently if the wipers cannot move the wiper motor is switched off automatically almost immediately
Here is another one:
If you have you headlights on and you turn off the engine they will turn off automatically after like two seconds.. If you start the car again, the lights will go back on.. I thing this is like an automatic light setting somehow.
when the car's sensors register that throttle and brake are pressed simultaneously it allows the brake input to fully override throttle input. If I am correct about this I would guess that it is programmed that way because of all the incompetent drivers who (have) claim(ed) unintended acceleration, but are really just dangerously clueless.
One nice thing about the headlight feature is that if you WANT the lights to stay on when you get out all you have to do is recycle the headlight switch after shutting the engine off.
This temporarily cancels the auto-off feature.
In some models you got tyre repair kit and in some a spare wheel.
