the kiazda sportage engine suffered mostly because of lack of correct repair, that same engine in true mazda form when fit in the B2200 truck is so long life people compare it to volcanic rock around the world.
The FE engine Im talking about is legendary in power, size and reliability, it is tough as nails and is very easy to work on, The sportage getting toyota swaps in Pakistan is due to mechanics telling owners to do that, as toyota engines are easily available in junk and they dont need to do any sort of repair, if anything goes bad - junkyard part gets installed. In my eyes that is being incredibly foolish.
there were a lot of petrol engine mazda pickups imported in Pakistan and hence their spares are around also. the CNG boom also has invited a lot of them into the scrap import. Issue is that your favorite mechanic does not want to work on them because once setup correct, you might never visit him for the next 2 years except for oil changes in between.
