Will this be your primary car?
I have owned a 2003 CL9 for 12 years now. I have a love/hate relationship with it. Yes its a lovely car to drive and when everything works as it should, its a joy to own. Sadly its an old car and things do not always work as they should
You are worried about the costs of parts due to imports/rupee devaluation. It will have little impact on parts as they are easily available but they aren't cheap. And majority of the parts I replace are all 'kabli' and they expensive as well. Brand new parts are available but I doubt if anyone actually buys them.
The car is heavy. It will be hard on its suspension. I have low profile tyres so the ride is pretty hard. Not punishing but stiff. Also the fuel economy is abysmal. I average 6km in city driving with AC. Keep that in mind if its your primary car and your commute is long.
Yes the sound system is great. But no MP3 or bluetooth. The CD changer does not recognize MP3 so if you want to listen to your new music formats, you may have to replace it. Not that convenient.
Engine is solid. Timing chains and its a reliable unit. Transmission is the weak point but failure rate is not that high as long as you do fluid changes and keep it stock. Suspension components are wear items. The AC compressor is located at bottom of the engine and fails when car is driven in a body of water. Keep an eye out on that. Its a 15 year old car so electrical issues may arise which are bothersome. As well as old rubber components which are wearing out as well.
Again. Lovely car. But they require upkeep and running costs are not low. I believe its one of the best modern Honda designs out there. Beautiful to look at and has aged gracefully. But if its your primary car and you like a reliable daily runabout, I at least cannot recommend a 15 year old sedan. A newer city automatic or corolla would be a wiser bet. Plenty of spare parts without the hassle of guessing what the next thing is which breaks when driving an old car.
And good luck finding a clean example now. Most are pretty beat up as many buy them cheap without realizing that the maintenance isn't on par with the price they paid. Just cause you paid 10 lacs for it doesnt mean it has the maintenance of a 10 lac car
Good luck
