I don't know how many of you have had first hand experience of a Chinese car- but I do have, of a FAW truck.
Now a truck, when you think about it, is more rugged and simple than a car. And it did come with 2 year warranty and a list of dealers eagerly willing to help and offer peace of mind. All very neat and nice whilst it stood there on polished showroom floor with midly scented air and people in white collars, neck ties and cufflinks.
But once you show it, what we people in Pakistan call, the road- it's an entirely different story.
Shouldn't take more than a month to learn the new definition of unreliability. And new definition of warranty which roughly translates into waste of time, and waste of some good swear words- and getting it done out of your pocket, from the ustaad hazrat juggar, in the end.
Dealers just don't have parts, don't have workshops or qualified mechanics- don't have much support from from the manufacturing monkeys, or their ancestors in China.
It doesn't take much time to realize that you'd have been better off with a crappy local one- but by then your purchase would worth its weight in manure, leaving you stuck with it for good.
