would appreciate some feedback on the following 2 issues;
recently (i.e. in summer), 1st start in morning has become difficult and on starting white smoke appears but there are no vibrations/misfire. After that it starts normally during the day. Mechanic says its due to fuel pump but fuel pump was serviced.
the mileage per litre has dropped drastically to 6.5-7Km/ltr on highways, its a Gen II with 4d56 TDi. Interestingly on another ride of ours with the 4d56 TDi above 9.5Km/ltr was easily obtained and its engine was not as good as Gen II.
Sir white smoke means oil is being eaten up, please see how much oil is there in intercooler from the turbo side
if turbo is pouring a lot of oil in intake than replace turbo with kabli one, plus also see how much play is there in turbo Fan if there is a huge play this means turbo is almost gone
well starting issue is mainly due to glow plugs and worn out nozzles, so check them and replace them
and stay away from mechanics who goes for diesel pumps, diesel pump is the last thing to be looked at for the problem
hope ur problem will be resolved soon
