Complete regular maintenance:
The first ever Complete regular maintenance of my ride was due, as I had not done anything with my ride since it had come to Pakistan in December 2018, other than just oil change. So last Monday (last day before Ramadan), I took my ride for complete check up to "AutoReforms" garage, near Ali Nawaz Chowk, Rawal Road, Rawalpindi.
Following tasks were performed:
1. Complete Brakes Service and Flushing of Brake Oil:
Although brake oil flushing was not at all reqd. at this stage, brake oil was absolutely clean, but just as a pro-active approach, I fully replaced it.
(Pardon. I could not take pics at each and every occasion. I was myself busy with the guys)
Following DOT 3 "Seiken" Brake Oil (Made in Japan) was poured in. Price per pack was Rs. 350, and total 04 packs were used (03 fully and 01 partially). So total cost of brake oil: Rs. 1400.
I wanted to pour in DOT 5.1 (DOT 5.1 is better than DOT 4, is better than DOT 3, but you never pour DOT 5 in DOT 3, DOT 4 and DOT 5.1), but I was surprised to know that not even a single shop in Kamran market, Saddar, Rawalpindi had DOT 5.1 and DOT 5 Brake fluid. Some shopkeepers were like; what is DOT 5 or 5.1 Brake fluid? Never heard of it!
Anyways, DOT 5.1 was not available, so I just poured in DOT 3 (Did not go for DOT 4)
2. Engine Flush and engine oil change:
Liqui Moly Engine flush was used. The ride was idled for 10-15 minutes and then engine oil + oil filter removed. ZIC A+ 5w-20 in 3L quantity was poured in, along with genuine Oil filter.
3. Engine Tuning:
Spark plugs were cleaned. They were brownish black, when taken out. MAF sensor was cleaned (although there wasn't any need for it, but still...) Throttle body was also cleaned, and trust me, it was extremely dirty and blackish. I never faced any sort of issues with Throttle body, i.e. rough idling, etc. Some members even say that there is no need to clean it, unless / until there is rough idling. But how dirty it was? and cleaning it reqd.? It only became evident, when it was fully cleaned after removing it.
(Spark plugs being fitted in after cleaning)
(MAF Sensor)
(Dirty Throttle Body)
(Dirt / Dust falling down from Throttle Body. Its mixed with Carby Cleaner)
(Clean Throttle Body)
(Throttle body being fitted in its position)
4. CVT Oil change:
CVT oil was changed as per following Tutorial. Simple as that:
Just one pic of CVT oil change:
(More pics aren't available as I myself was busy with the guys, explaining them how to change CVT Oil. Tbh, The guys did not know how to change CVT Oil. They were like; CVT Oil sump / chamber will be opened, CVT Oil filter will be cleaned, new gasket will be installed and 4L of CVT oil will be poured in (as is usually done in garages in case of CVT oil change). I guided them that in my case, there isn't any such need. Just drain out the old CVT oil and pour in the new CVT oil. No need to open chamber / sump, clean filter, install new gasket and pour 4L CVT oil, etc.
Btw, CVT oil which came out was still in pinkish color.)
5. AC was checked and found OK.
6. Suspension was fully checked and found OK. All major nuts & Bolts were tightened.
7. Air filter and AC / Cabin Filter replaced.
8. Fluids levels checked and found OK (I had already taken care of washer fluid and radiator fluid, i.e. engine coolant)
9. Serpentine belt was checked and found OK.
10. Engine was checked for any anomaly, vibrations, etc. and found OK.
11. Valves clearances / tappets were checked and found OK (there wasn't any noises)
Pic of the bill and Total Charges: Rs. 3000
And with this, the discussion regarding maintenance concludes on my part.
