Reason for all Karachi civic problems is simple....something to do with Bhutto still alive in Sindh
Karachi as a city is going down in terms of its infrastructure capability to handle such huge population and the situation is getting worse because neither there are funds nor any intent on part of Sindh's elected party to do anything for Karachi.
The thing is they are clever enough to know that they will remain the ruling party in Sindh, with or without Karachi votes. Even if the whole city turns like Thar district, why should they care as long as they are winning?
Solution is simple, yet amazingly many people even in Karachi do not realize or demand that. Karachi should not be part of Sindh at all.
Not just due to the above reason, which alone is sufficient enough, Karachi population no longer represents Sindh. The number of Sindhis in Karachi are in fact lower or on par with Punjabis whereas both Urdu speaking (Mohajirs) and Pathans exceed the number of Sindhis here. So most of the people here do not even understand Sindhi - let alone speaking it in personal or official capacity. This is not the case in any of the Punjab cities such as Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan where you expect the majority to understand punjabi, or Peshawar, where majority would know Pushto. Plus there is massive difference in the different ethnicities in Pakistan with their own languages, cultures, behaviors and attitude. Pakistan should have more provinces given its size and diversity in culture and Karachi with a population of over 2 crores should be made a separate province, to be governed by people who represent the city. The rulers in Sindh have not and will never fight for increasing Karachi seats in National and Provincial assemblies as per what Karachi deserves due to its population size as there is a conflict of interest.
Having a separate province has literally no disadvantage but lot of advantages for the people of Karachi and if Karachi progresses, the whole country will benefit. So politics aside, this should be a no brainer to make Karachi a province status. However no one would change the status quo if there is no demand.
I wonder why Karachi people are so mute on this that although they are pretty clear about the problems the city faces, they do not demand the solution that will at least be the first major step towards improvement.
