True. Awfully quiet forums too. It horrifies people when I tell them even a well-maintained m104, a preserved example, will run almost 0.5million per year as a garage queen 1000kms-per-annum car. They laugh. I laugh. We all go our seperate ways.
M104 is an engine that refuses to die, the headgasket failure that happens every 200,000 kms is not a fault - its plain physics, iron vs aluminium expansion rates.
Its really a masterpiece when you tear it down.
I have taken a 560,000miles M104 HFM apart. Crank was like new. Guy slapped some Elring on and went on another 100K miles. Serious build quality.
