Driving a Diesel Fortuner Sigma4. The recommended oil change is 3000-3500km. This costs around Rs.9000 (approx) for two bottles of oil and oil filter. Checked the oil condition after driving 2500 km. It was dark, really dark. Major service is at 20,000 km interval. Fuel/Diesel filter changes every 20,000 km and dont remember exact price. Air filter although gets replaced as per condition but hasnt been changed yet. AC filter in cabin gets dirty alot and its size is same as toyota corolla filter which is cheaper. Corolla filter can be cleaned with air and put back, while fortuner filter gets torn apart if cleaned with air. The 20,000 km inspection was for Rs 16,000 and covered brake service, wheel alignment, balancing and other few things.
The concerning thing was replacing BRAKE BOOSTER which was under warranty so replaced for free by Toyota as it was faulty and maybe Fortuners were being recalled. The whole process took 1.5 hours.
Another observation with Sigma4 is that PWR mode gives better fuel economy than ECO mode. Tried many times and PWR mode came on top, probably since pedal is pushed slightly in PWR and the SUV takes off while in ECO pedal has to be pushed further for decent pick and i drive this Rig cautiously so i dont do high Revs neither push it for speed.
In 40 degrees of Lahore as of now, the car cover has shredded on bonnet area as engine is very very warm after 1 hour drive. Told driver to cover the body upto front windshield and let the bonnet cool down for 2 hours. Car stands under shade though but still takes time. Toyota Ravi Foreman says that this diesel variant is ready for optimum drive in 5 minutes of starting engine.
The AC had started to lose gas. Talked to Toyota Ravi Electrician who filled gas, then said to get condenser washed from front with hose. Change of AC filter also helped in chilling AC throw in 40+ degrees. The front cool box became effective too. Rear cool box in 3rd row is a good addition.
The Pioneer LCD doesnt stream videos. Talked to two Toyota Vendors who showed email that PTA has blocked youtube etc, is this true ?
Compared to Petrol 2700cc, the 2.8 Sigma4 seems powerful and drives much smoother, Pick is also good.
