The 200 Series Toyota Land Cruiser was introduced in 2007. The Toyota Land Cruiser 200 Series featured a brand new more modern design that was meant to appeal to the higher-end SUV market. The 200 Series Toyota Land Cruiser is a front engine four wheel drive SUV. The price was significantly increased compared to the old 100 series Land Cruiser to make it not only more of a luxury styled off-roader that could compete with the likes of the Audi Q7, BMW X5, Porsche Cayenne, Range Rover and the Mercedes M-Class but with even better off road capabilities compared to the 100 series Toyota Land Cruiser. The 200 Series Toyota Land Cruiser was offered in 2 variants AX and GX. Production of the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 Series lasted for 9 years and Toyota halted the production in 2015 with the new facelifted 200 Series Land Cruiser. The price of the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 Series was not competitive when compared to other models in the same class.

The 200 Series Toyota Land Cruiser features a very muscular look with its large exterior dimensions and tall ride height. The front fascia is comprised of an angular rectangular shaped chrome grille nestled between the sleek side swept headlights which are placed above the standard rectangular shaped fog lights. The rear end also features the use of chrome with a bar running across the centre that is embossed with the LandCruiser logo placed between the side swept rectangular style rear taillights. The general shape of the Toyota LandCruiser is that of a typical SUV and due to the large exterior dimensions and unique styling the SUV feels very imposing on the road. All variants of the Toyota Land Cruiser feature identical styling in every aspect.

The interior of the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 Series features the classic seven seater layer arranged in three rows. The interior comes as standard covered in a choice of Dark Grey or Sand Beige coloured fabric. Standard features on the AX variant includes 10 airbags, Heated front electric seats, Cruise Control, Power Windows, Traction control, Multi-stereo speak JBL sound system while features on the higher end GX variant include side airbags, overhead airbags, leather upholstery, Satellite Navigation with DVD Input, Rear-View Camera, Sunroof and headlight washers. The overall cabin of the land cruiser is very spacious in both the front and rear for an SUV of its exterior dimensions. It also offers a good level of comfort and interior refinement.
