Modified cars are a new hype due to the ongoing inflation on new and imported cars. Daihatsu Cuore was one of the most-loved family hatchbacks in the early 2000s for its extraordinary fuel economy and outclassed performance. We reviewed a modified Cuore from its owner, Ahmed. Let’s discuss this project car in more detail.

Daihatsu Cuore – Overview

Ahmed bought a 2004 Coure in 4 lacs and decided to transform this car into a new version of Mira from the same Japanese automaker, Daihatsu. This tough project went through several tough times due to its extreme modification scenarios but came out as a successful one.

Modification Details

Ahmed has an ideal car in mind, i.e., Daihatsu Mira. He took it as a reference point for spare parts and performance. He replaced Cuore’s engine with the Mira 660CC and modified its suspensions along with the brake pads. Besides, he changed the manual transmission to an automatic transmission and installed an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), airbags, console, power window, and digital speedometer.

The car’s interior was completely refurbished with Mira’s Sports edition model by taking the dashboard, bucket seats, glass holders, and air conditioner from the reference car. Moreover, the traditional exhaust was converted into a stainless-steel catalytic converter for environmental benefits.

Fuel Average and Maintenance

Daihatsu has never been an expensive car to maintain. Ahmed shared that he uses German lubricants and gets the oil changed every 8,000km for 8,500 rupees. However, this modified car gives him around 15 to 16km/l of fuel on average without an air conditioner, and the top speed goes up to 130km/hr.

Project Cost

Buying a Daihatsu Cuore in 4 lacs and spending 11 to 12 lacs on its modification is not the type of risk every car enthusiast would love to take. However, seeing its performance, effortless drive, and outstanding fuel economy proved it to be worth it.
