With another unique owner’s review, we are here with Toyota Corolla XLI 2009 model. Although it sounds like a regular car but the owner has done modifications to the extent that only its seats and AC knobs are remaining stock parts. It shows the owner’s passion and love for his ride. So, let us start this review.

Modifications

Here are the modifications done by the owner in this sedan.

Engine

The owner has installed a 1.8L 2ZZ GE engine in this car which used to come in Toyota MR2 and Toyota Celica. The engine produces 187hp and 150Nm torque, which means it is way more powerful than Corolla and Civic’s stock engines. “The reason behind choosing this engine is that it sits properly in the foundation of Corolla XLI,” the owner told us.

Meanwhile, the car has a 7-Speed V Series transmission.

Suspension

The owner has installed Greddy 4-way coil-overs, and the reason behind it is the powerful engine of the car. Because the normal suspension and shocks couldn’t handle this power, the owner is planning to go for a racing suspension. “With the powerful engine, we have to follow many precautions,” the owner said, adding that he has also installed bars in the car pillars to give its body reinforcement.

Tyres

The tyres in this car are 5AR semi-slick tyres from Canada. And the Alloy Wheels are 17 inches in black color.

Exterior and Interior

This car’s paint is inspired by the Farrera Red Paint of Toyota Tundra 2022, and it is a mixture of red and orange. Furthermore, the kit in this car is of American Corolla XRS, including a meter cluster, steering, and door panels. “The original interior tone of XLI is beige and grey, but I have changed it to complete black,” the owner said. And he is also planning to install bucket seats in his machine.

Fuel Average

The fuel average of XLI with a stock engine is 9-10 km/liter within the city and 12-30km/liter on highways. Meanwhile, this modified car gives 4.5km/liter in the city and 7-8km/liter on the long route. “There are multiple modifications left in this car, including supercharger and fuel pumps, and then its performance will be even better,” the owner shared.

Maintenance

The cost of maintenance of stock Corolla was around Rs. 5-6,000 but it costs much more in this car and reaches up to Rs. 14-15,000, which includes oil change, filter change, plug change, and air intake replacement. “You can find its parts everywhere very easily,” he said.
