The most common problem CVT owners encounter is overheating, therefore, it is important that you ensure that your vehicle has ample fluid. However, please take note that adding fluid should not be more than 75%, or about a Ā¾ quarter, of the reservoir. It has to be just within the cross-hatch mark. Overfilling your reservoir will aggravate the situation. If it still overheats, it is time to visit your reputable mechanic from Eagle Transmission because the issue may be because of the faulty freeze protection.
Another thing you should always keep in mind is the fluid change schedule. The schedule will depend on the type of vehicle that you have but most of the time, itās within the 100,000 km range. Check your vehicleās manual to know when to visit Eagle Transmission.
Do not overload your vehicle as it will cause your belt to wear due to excessive heat. Make sure that you stick to the suggested weight your vehicle can carry.
Another important thing that you might want to incorporate on your vehicle is the mud guard, best placed on the front wheel. This will prevent dust accumulation in your CVT.
When driving, make sure that you maintain the speed to 5km/hour or more. With that, you will be guaranteed that your belt wonāt slip and wear.
If you are on a hill, make sure not to use the throttle to hold yourself. Just hit the brake to resist backward motion and once you have released it, thatās the time you hit the throttle.
Like on automatic transmission, do not neutral drop your car. It can easily damage your CVT, too.
When changing direction, make sure you stop first.
If you are using a traditional CVT, be cautious when inching.
