Exterior

The exterior of the 2nd Generation BMW X5 features a very distinctive design language. The front end houses sleek angular side swept headlights, the classic BMW kidney grille and triple air intakes. The rear end houses trapezium shaped side swept headlights, dual exhaust tips and a standard case tailgate. The X5M featured a slightly different and more aggressive design language. The front end houses a larger front bumper with a larger trapezium air intake and a front diffuser. The rear end houses a sports exhaust system, a larger rear bumper with a rear diffuser and various M badging all around the SUV. Options include Auto-dimming door mirrors, power tailgate, radar cruise control, power moonroof, rear HVAC, satellite navigation, rear seat entertainment system, wood trim, 16-speaker stereo audio system, headlight cleaning system, heads up display, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, carbon fibre interior trim (X5M only)  and a 3rd row of seats (7 total). The overall interior of the BMW X5 features a decent amount of space in the front but an average interior space in the rear for an SUV of its size and mass, it also offers a good level of comfort and interior refinement.
